Local SEO for Plumbers in Texas
When a pipe bursts in McKinney or a water heater dies in Frisco, nobody browses ten websites. They search plumber plus their city, glance at the map, and call. This guide is for Texas plumbing owners who want to be one of those first three names — not another agency checklist.
How plumbing searches actually work in Texas
Most plumbing demand is urgent. Slab leaks, clogged mains, no hot water. People search on a phone, often after hours, and they pick whoever looks available and trustworthy in seconds.
In North Texas especially, Google mixes results across city lines. A McKinney search can show Allen and Frisco trucks. A Dallas search can pull Plano and Arlington. If your profile only lists one city and your photos look abandoned, you lose jobs you already drive past.
You do not need a national blog strategy. You need a complete Google Business Profile, recent reviews that mention real jobs, and a site that makes the phone number impossible to miss on mobile.
What I see when I audit Texas plumbing profiles
After looking at a lot of trade listings across DFW, the same gaps show up:
- Primary category wrong or too vague. “Contractor” does not help you for “plumber near me.”
- Service list missing the jobs people type. Water heater, drain cleaning, slab leak, sewer camera — plain words win.
- Service area empty or oversized. Claiming half of Texas does not help. List the cities you actually roll trucks to.
- Reviews that stopped two years ago. Emergency buyers want proof you are still in business.
- Stock photos or none. Real vans, real techs, real jobs beat brochure shots.
Fix those before you pay for content packages. Most agencies overcomplicate this.
Seasonality and storms
North Texas freezes and summer heat both spike plumbing calls. After a hard freeze, search volume jumps overnight. After hail or heavy rain, backup and leak searches climb.
When demand spikes, the shops with fresh photos, correct hours, and a clear emergency line grab the overflow. Update your Google posts and hours before the weather hits — not three days later.
What to do this week
- Search “plumber” plus your city on your phone in private mode. Screenshot the map pack.
- Compare categories, review freshness, and photo quality to whoever is above you.
- Fix your profile today: category, services, service area, phone, hours.
- Ask three recent happy customers for a Google review with a direct link.
- Put tap-to-call at the top of your mobile site. Hide it behind a menu and you will lose jobs.
